Assistant Accountant

Are you a qualified accountant looking to step into a finance role within Public Sector

We're recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance team in delivering accurate financial management, reporting, and analysis. Working under the supervision of a senior accountant, the role contributes to maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial decision-making across the Council.

Main Responsibilities:

• Maintaining financial records

• Preparing accounting journals

• Completing account reconciliations

• Analysing financial data for decision-making

• Supporting budgeting and forecasting

• Assisting with capital accounting or treasury management

• Contributing to financial reporting and compliance

Essential Criteria:

• Successfully completed the final examinations of AAT or IATI; or
• Passed the foundation- level exams of a recognised professional accountancy body (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent)
• 2 years experience working in a finance function.
